Book Review: Bleeding Hearts by Ash Krafton

Summary (taken from Goodreads):
Sophie Galen is an advice columnist whose work leaves her neck-deep in other people’s problems. Thanks to her compassion, her gut instinct, and her magnetic charm, Sophie really knows how to attract little black clouds.
Marek Thurzo is no little black cloud; he’s a maelstrom. Marek is Demivampire, a race with the potential to evolve into vampire. A warrior who’s taken his share of spiritual damage, he hovers dangerously close to destruction.
He seeks salvation. She’s driven to save him. But what if he can’t be saved?
Sympathy for his plight becomes true empathy as Sophie’s hidden nature is revealed. Marek suspects she may be one of the Sophia, oracle and redemption of the damned Demivampire. She alone can turn back the evolutionary clock.
All she needs is the courage to face her fears. Can she save him from Falling?

My Review:

I have to say I am really happy that the author asked me to review the book, because the story was really amazing!
I think that I could relate a bit to the character because she's an adult. Sophie works as a columnist for a magazine, and right from the beginning you can feel the halo of mystery that floats around her. Something happened in the past, and this still haunts her.
She meets Marek during a museum visit, and you can tell there's a sort of connection. Soon enough, Sophie discovers a brand new world she didn't know could possibly exist and gets sucked into the craziness of it.
Although Marek is very charming, I have to admit I have a soft spot for Rodrian, his brother. Obviously the relationship between him & Sophie is very different from the one she has with Marek, but I really hope it gets developed further in the next book.
However, what kept me from giving the full rating, and also the reason for taking so long to finish the book, was that it was full of typos and really bad formatted. Sometimes, out of the blue, number of pages appeared along with the author name, and the acknowledgements were right below the end of the book. I mean, no spaces, nothing. But what it really made the reading difficult was the separate words (ex. spa-ces) every two or three sentences, that I assume were meant to go to a new line. It made me lose focus on the story. I can't wait to read the next book, I just hope it gets better formatted.

Overall Rating:
